Revelation 22:12-21 (NIV) 12“Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done.  13I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.  14“Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city.  15Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.  16“I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star.”  17The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.  18I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this scroll: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to that person the plagues described in this scroll.  19And if anyone takes words away from this scroll of prophecy, God will take away from that person any share in the tree of life and in the Holy City, which are described in this scroll.  20He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.  21The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s people. Amen.

As we get a glimpse of eternity (heaven), we find the promised Messiah - the “Offspring of David” - extending the invitation to eternity to all of humanity. All who will believe are washed by the blood of Jesus, and find their place at the tree of life.  Time itself finds its place in Jesus as he declares, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.”

The truth is that humanity is unable to save itself, and the only one who could save us is the one who created us.  For God to do this, He needed to become part of his creation.  Paul, in Philippians 2, explains what God did. “5In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:  6Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;  7rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.  8And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!  9Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name,  10that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,  11and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.   --Philippians 2:5-11 (NIV)”

As God sacrificed Himself for you so that you could be freed from your sin, be restored into right relationship with God and be the person that God created you to be, are you willing to sacrifice yourself for God by declaring to your world that Jesus is your Lord and Saviour?  How will you do this?

Memory Verse: Romans 6:23 (NIV)
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
